Our Doctors
Jason R. Miller, O.D., M.B.A.
Dr. Jason R. Miller is a 1995 graduate of Ohio Dominican College where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He continued his studies at The Ohio State University where he earned a Doctorate of Optometry in 1999. In 2006, he completed his Masters in Business Administration. Dr. Miller began practicing with Dr. Kuhlmann at EyeCare Professionals of Powell in June, 1999 upon graduation and licensure.
Dr. Miller is a faculty member at Ohio State University and has instructed students in the Binocular Vision and Pediatrics Clinic. He has done extensive work in the area of children’s vision. Research has indicated 70 to 80 percent of children in learning disabled classes have an undetected vision problem. 1 in every 20 children suffers from Amblyopia (“Lazy Eye”), including Dr. Miller’s son whose condition he detected at 22 months. The earlier any vision concerns are detected, the better the prognosis can be.
Dr. Miller proudly volunteers his time for many school vision screenings and the “Realeyes” initiative. For his dedication, he recently received the 2004 Community Service Award for the Olentangy School Board. He also examines and provides eyeglasses to needy individuals through the American Optometric Association’s Vision USA Program, and VSP’s Sight for Students. He is currently the Central Ohio Zone governor in the Ohio Optometric Association and the Central Ohio InfantSEE coordinator. He is also an active member of the American Optometric Association, the Olentangy Rotary Club, Powell Chamber of Commerce, and the Powell United Methodist Church.
Dr. Miller and his wife, Melanie, reside in Powell with their three children; Jacob, Joshua, and Megan.
San-San L. Cooley, O.D., M.S.
Dr. San-San L. Cooley received her undergraduate and graduate education at the University of Minnesota, earning her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees. She continued on to obtain her Doctorate of Optometry, graduating magna cum laude from The Ohio State University, College of Optometry.
She was selected to become part of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society and also received the Patient Care Excellence Award and the William Feinbloom Low Vision Award. Following graduation, Dr. Cooley completed a residency focusing on the management and treatment of ocular disease at the Cincinnati Eye Institute.
Dr. Cooley is a current faculty member at The Ohio State University, College of Optometry. As Clinical Assistant Professor and attending doctor, she supervises interns and examines patients in Primary Vision Clinic, Ocular Disease Clinic, Vision Rehabilitation Clinic, and at the Student Health Center. Dr. Cooley is also an instructor for clinical skills labs at the OSU College of Optometry.
Dr. Cooley is an active member of the Ohio Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, and the American Academy of Optometry. She is involved in the community as a member of LifePoint Church, and is a presenter of “Realeyes,” an education program that teaches children and their parents about eye health and safety. She has volunteered on an optometric service mission with Student Volunteers for Optometric Service to Humanity (SVOSH), providing eye care to underserved populations in Ecuador.
Dr. Cooley is certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. She practices full scope optometry and sees patients of all ages providing vision and ocular health examinations, prescription eyeglasses and contact lenses, diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases, emergency eye care, and referral services for various ocular conditions.
Joseph Keaney, O.D.
Dr. Joseph Keaney received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from The Ohio State University in 2005. He then went to the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University and earned his Doctorate of Optometry with clinical honors in 2010.
Dr. Keaney moved back to Northeast Ohio upon graduation and provided eye care in a private practice in Cleveland for 4 years. He moved back to Columbus in 2015 and has been practicing in Gahanna and German Village.
Dr. Keaney is passionate about patient education. He practices full scope optometry emphasizing preventative care to maintain optimal eye health and vision.
Dr. Keaney is an active member of the American Optometric Association and Ohio Optometric Association. He is looking forward to becoming more involved in his hometown of Powell, where he resides with his wife, Jen, and son, Wyatt. He enjoys spending time with family and friends, cheering on the Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Cavs!
Eric Neader, O.D.
Dr. Neader is a 2004 graduate of the Ohio State University College of Optometry. Dr. Neader is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Ohio Optometric Association, and The Contact Lens and Cornea Section of the AOA. He has received extensive training during his externships in Ocular Disease at the Dayton VA Hospital and with the Ohio State University Department of Ophthalmology. After graduating, he began practicing in corporate optometry, and was also employed with a refractive surgical center. Thus, Dr. Neader brings a unique skill set with tremendous clinical experience in the area of Refractive Surgery to the arena of private optometric practice. He was one of the primary optometrists on staff who was trained and qualified to evaluate the pre-op patient selection and manage post-op care for numerous refractive surgical cases, including LASIK & PRK. He has joined our practice in November of 2021. Dr. Neader is a resident of the Powell area.

Jason took over as VP of Business Development and Vendor relations for OPTOMETRIC MANAGEMENT GROUP in 2020… Jason has over 24 years of experience in the optical field. He serves on the Ohio Optometric Association East West Committee. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Business in Business Management in 2004. He is the proud father of Wyatt, Hudson and husband to Abigail. He and his family reside in the Lewis Center area.

Carla will greet you at the front desk with a smile. Carla joined our office in 2012 with over 13 years of experience. Carla is originally from the Ashland area. Carla is married to Dan and resides in the Powell area. Carla has two children and four grandchildren.

CPO and Clinical Research Assistant for Insight Research Clinic
Gina Whaley has been a technician in the Eye Care Professionals family since 2016. Gina assists patients prior to their comprehensive examinations in all areas of pre-testing such as autorefraction and visual fields testing. She also received her CPO certification in 2017. Gina is a graduate of The Ohio State University and enjoys spending time with her 3 children as well as reading and watching sports.

Wendy joined our office in 2015. Wendy will greet you at the front desk and the optical department. Wendy has over 4 years of experience in the optical field. Wendy studied Nursing at Clark State. Wendy and her family reside in the Dublin area.
Taylor M.
Office Manager
Taylor grew up with a large extended family in Upper Arlington. After graduation, she spent nine years teaching young children at Burbank Early Childhood School. Needing a change, Taylor jumped in to the optometry world in 2017 as an Optometric Technician. She values connecting with patients, helping them achieve their best vision, and eye health. She is currently working to become a Certified Paraoptometric Technician, and learning from the experienced veteran doctors and staff at Eyecare professionals of Powell.
In her free time Taylor fosters dogs for local animal rescue Speak! for the the unspoken. Speak! is a foster based rescue that specializes in blind/deaf and other special needs dogs and cats. She enjoys traveling with friends and family, going to concerts, spending time outdoors and finding the best restaurants in the city.

CPO, OPTOMETRIC TECHNICIAN AND DEPARTMENT HEAD FOR CLINIC
Candice joined our team as an optometric technician in October of 2020. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology and Environmental Science from Miami University and she earned her certified paraoptometric license in 2022. Prior to entering the optical field, she spent many years as an educator at the Columbus Zoo, Cincinnati Zoo, and an outdoor education center in southwestern Ohio. Candice enjoys animals, photography, hiking, and exploring area parks with her family.

Madi joined our team in the fall of 2020. She greatly enjoys connecting with patients and helping them to feel confident in the glasses they wear. She is currently studying in the STEM field and plans on receiving a degree in Biomedical Engineering. She spends her free time having fun with her four dogs, gecko, and family. Her other interests include art, baking, and keeping up with the latest fashion trends.

My name is Michele, and I am excited to join the Eyecare Professional of Powell team.
As I was attending Kent State, I worked for an Optometrist. It was a small practice, and it really felt like a family.
After graduating, I decided to move from my small town to Columbus.
I recently took a few years off to care for my mother. Now I am rejoining the field.
Other than spending time with family and friends, I enjoy gardening and creating healthy and flavorful soups. Working out in the garden with my sidekick Poppy, my Doberman, is really my “ZEN” time. It is so rewarding to watch the gardens grow and the bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds enjoy the flowers.
My other “ZEN” time is cycling and spending the at the gym. I recently took up boxing and started lifting weights again. These all help me be more structured in my life.

Mia started working as a technician at EyeCare Professionals in May 2022. Mia is from the Powell area and currently attends The Ohio State University. Mia is studying Biology with a minor in Public Health and is involved in Pre-Optometry Club, EyesOnHealth, BuckeyeThon, and Delta Omega Kappa. In Mia’s free time, she enjoys watching movies, reading, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

I started my Optometry journey in 2020 working as a technician at EyeCare Professionals. I recently graduated with a bachelors degree from Miami University this past May and I am currently applying to Optometry school. In the past I have worked as a waitress, and caregiver, and volunteer for Opening Minds Through Art. In my free time I enjoy lifting weights, traveling, trying new restaurants with friends, hiking, and watching movies.

Chris joined EyeCare Professionals in 2022, after being a patient with EyeCare Professionals in Powell for 20 years. She has worked as a Media Buyer, Book Fair Consultant, and Administrative Assistant in a variety of positions.
Chris lives in Powell with her husband, Randy, and their youngest son, Matthew. Thomas is working at United Way in Illinois since graduating from Ohio University in Spring 2020. Matthew is also an Ohio University grad and is working in the Columbus area in web design for a consulting company. When not working, Chris enjoys reading mystery novels, watching movies and going out for breakfast with friends. Top vacation destinations would be anywhere on a beach, or a city with some museums-a recent trip to Charleston, SC was ideal!

Meghan is an alumni of Columbus State Community College’s Culinary Apprenticeship program. She is a certified Sous Chef and worked as a Pastry Assistant for 4 years at Scioto Country Club. She is excited to bring her customer service experience to EyeCare Professionals and learn more about the world of eye care. Meghan is a dual citizen of Germany and America, and speaks fluent German although she has lived in Hilliard, OH for much of her life. She tries to visit her family in Bavaria as often as possible. In her free time, she paints, sings, and plays with her 2 boston terriers Maja and Cashew.
